Wireless Caller ID Display for Bikers

Abstract: The project's primary focus is a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone interface. The Arduino microcontroller in this project is also programmed using the Arduino IDE software through a USB port on the Arduino board. The Bluetooth module HC-05 operates on serial communicationand receives serial information via a software program. Thedata is sent through the Bluetooth module after being received from the app. The DC unit on the bike can be connected to the DC supply. The application begins to function in real time as soon as the bike is turned on. AfterBluetooth receives a serial transmission from the user's phone, it is sent to an Arduino board for processing before being displayed on an LCD screen to show caller ID details,including the user's mobile number. Additionally, the display alerts the user or provides a warning to stop the bike. In this instance, the cell phone serves as a transmitting tool.Because Android phones can operate software applicationsand use Bluetooth, they are the required device for the user's phone. Global systems for mobile communication (GSM) are not recommended since they could end up being more expensive.

RFID AND GSM BASED ATTENDANCE SYSTEM

We have developed a quick and simple solution to the challenge of tracking every student's presence in a class by using radio frequency identification (RFID) to control student attendance with little to no teacher intervention.This project is to use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to streamline the attendance recording system. A web-based application called RFID based Attendance recorder with SMS alert system will be created to address the aforementioned issue. Database support and GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) technologies will be used in the development of the system. As a result, in addition to tracking students' attendance, the system notifies the students' parents by SMS when they are present or not. Key Words: Monitoring, Tracking, attendance, RFID

A Model of Android - Dependent Vehicle Monitoring System

From a global perspective, the number of cars using our roads around-the-clock has increased dramatically, and this has tremendously  amplified the insecurity on our roads. This has become a key subject, especially in Nigeria. Consequently, automobile trailing schemes are  gradually becoming evident amongst common users in the transport sector in most major metropolises. This paper aims to showcase a developed Android-based application system for vehicle trailing schemes that integrates Google Maps real-time features, the  “Global Positioning System (GPS), and employs the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM)” technology. The GPS component is  a space-based navigation system that runs on location and time data at all times, irrespective of place and time on the globe, provided  there is a line of sight to any of the four or more GPS satellites. The time and location are displayed, utilising Google Maps, which serves  as an interface with the application so that the user will be able to constantly monitor moving vehicles via the smartphone. Presented  here are the designed model and the experimental outcome of the automobile trailing system that verifies the possibility of the system  trailing the movement of vehicles from one location to another at any given time, as well as an interactive Graphical User Interface (GUI)  for the Smartphone application. 

Smart Energy Monitoring & Appliance Control using IoT Server & GSM Network

Vehicle Theft Detection and Tracking Based on GSM and GPS

Abstract: The increasing incidence of vehicle theft poses a significant challenge to vehicle owners and law enforcement agencies worldwide. This paper presents a comprehensive solution for addressing this issue through the integration of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies. The proposed system aims to enhance the security of vehicles by providing real-time theft detection and efficient tracking capabilities. The GSM module facilitates communication between the vehicle and a centralized monitoring system, allowing forseamless data transmission. The system leverages the widespread coverage and reliability of GSM networks to ensure that alerts are promptly delivered to relevant stakeholders, irrespective of the vehicle's location. Furthermore, the GPS technology enables real-time tracking of the stolen vehicle, assisting law enforcement agencies in swiftly responding to the incident. The system's tracking feature provides continuous updates on the vehicle's location, allowing for efficient recovery operations. Additionally, the integration of geofencing capabilities allows users to define virtual boundaries, triggering alerts if the vehicle deviates from the predefined geographical area. The proposed system offers a multi-layered security approach, combining GPS-based tracking with GSMenabled theft detection, making it a robust and effective solution for combating vehicle theft. The integration of these technologies not only enhances the chances of recovering stolen vehicles but also acts as a deterrent, discouraging potential thieves. In conclusion, the Vehicle Theft Detection and Tracking System presented in this paper showcases a technologically advanced and practical solution to mitigate the impact of vehicle theft. The integration of GSM and GPS technologies provides a comprehensive and reliable framework that addresses the security concerns associated with vehicle ownership in today's dynamic environment.

Application of Convolutional Neural Network for Decoding of 12-Lead Electrocardiogram from a Frequency-Modulated Audio Stream (Sonified ECG).

Research of novel biosignal modalities with application to remote patient monitoring is a subject of state-of-the-art developments. This study is focused on sonified ECG modality, which can be transmitted as an acoustic wave and received by GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) microphones. Thus, the wireless connection between the patient module and the cloud server can be provided over an audio channel, such as a standard telephone call or audio message. Patients, especially the elderly or visually impaired, can benefit from ECG sonification because the wireless interface is readily available, facilitating the communication and transmission of secure ECG data from the patient monitoring device to the remote server. The aim of this study is to develop an AI-driven algorithm for 12-lead ECG sonification to support diagnostic reliability in the signal processing chain of the audio ECG stream. Our methods present the design of two algorithms: (1) a transformer (ECG-to-Audio) based on the frequency modulation (FM) of eight independent ECG leads in the very low frequency band (300-2700 Hz); and (2) a transformer (Audio-to-ECG) based on a four-layer 1D convolutional neural network (CNN) to decode the audio ECG stream (10 s @ 11 kHz) to the original eight-lead ECG (10 s @ 250 Hz). The CNN model is trained in unsupervised regression mode, searching for the minimum error between the transformed and original ECG signals. The results are reported using the PTB-XL 12-lead ECG database (21,837 recordings), split 50:50 for training and test. The quality of FM-modulated ECG audio is monitored by short-time Fourier transform, and examples are illustrated in this paper and supplementary audio files. The errors of the reconstructed ECG are estimated by a popular ECG diagnostic toolbox. They are substantially low in all ECG leads: amplitude error (quartile range RMSE = 3-7 μV, PRD = 2-5.2%), QRS detector (Se, PPV > 99.7%), P-QRS-T fiducial points' time deviation (<2 ms). Low errors generalized across diverse patients and arrhythmias are a testament to the efficacy of the developments. They support 12-lead ECG sonification as a wireless interface to provide reliable data for diagnostic measurements by automated tools or medical experts.

Design and Implementation of Baggage Tracking System using Arduino Uno

Missing baggage, luggage theft, and damage to traveller’s belongings are persistent challenges in the aviation and transportation industries worldwide. In response, an IoT-based baggage tracking system has been designed and implemented to address these issues. The system integrates a GSM/GPS module for continuous connectivity and an Arduino microcontroller for data processing. It enables real-time tracking of luggage location on a map, facilitated by the GPS (Global positioning system) module retrieving coordinates and sending them to the microcontroller. The processed information is then transmitted via SMS (short message service) through the GSM (Global system for mobile communication) module, allowing passengers to monitor their baggage's whereabouts remotely. Implementation of this system promises to alleviate stress for both passengers and the aviation industry by reducing incidents of lost, misplaced, or stolen luggage.

Drowsiness and Crash Detection Mobile Application for Vehicle’s Safety

Detecting road accidents promptly is crucial for minimizing casualties and property damage worldwide. The proposed system, comprising hardware and a mobile application, automatically identifies and reports accidents to emergency services. It also employs a facial recognition system to detect driver drowsiness, enhancing accident prevention measures. By leveraging sensor technologies, cellular networks, and advanced detection algorithms, the proposed system analyzes data from accelerometers, Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM), and Global Positioning System (GPS) sensors. Originally designed for vehicles, it can be easily adapted for deployment in various settings such as factories and construction sites with minor adjustments. The system continuously monitors the driver's facial expressions and activities using sensors. When drowsiness is detected, it activates a buzzer, and in the event of a crash, it alerts the driver to prevent false alarms while simultaneously notifying the rescue center if a genuine crash has occurred. This integrated approach enhances safety and optimizes emergency response efforts. The Arduino microcontroller, equipped with an accelerometer, identifies sudden changes in motion like acceleration and rotation to assess impacts against predefined thresholds. Furthermore, GPS functionality accurately determines the vehicle's location at the time of the accident, while GSM enables seamless communication with rescue centers through notifications.

Bengali sign language translator with location tracking system

Designing an embedded system to convert sign language to sound forms to communicate with the outside world can be a challenging yet rewarding project, especially for mute people. To convey a speaker's thought through sign language, hand shapes, hand orientation and movement, and facial expressions must be combined concurrently. This research is intended to design a system that translates sign language into sound forms to establish communication with the outside world for people who are deaf, those who can hear but cannot physically speak, or have trouble with spoken languages due to some other disabilities. They can thus receive prompt assistance and stay out of uncomfortable circumstances. Additionally, this system incorporates a tracking system that uses a global system for mobile communications (GSM)/ global positioning system (GPS) module to locate a person using a tracking device and send the location to previously saved emergency contact numbers so that someone nearby can quickly locate and assist the person. Typically, each nation has its own native sign language. This project will create a few essential and typical sentences and phrases in Bengali.

IoT based monitoring of distribution transformer

As transformer does not have any rotating parts hence it is called as static device, therefore it does not have mechanical losses, but internal stresses arose from abnormal system conditions like Over currents due to overloading on Transformer and short circuits, The faults can cause mechanical and thermal stresses inside the transformer winding and its connecting terminals. Thus transformer must be protected from above stresses. The aim of this project is to obtain real time data of transformer from remote places with the help of Internet of Things[ IOT] and then designing and implementing a Global system of Mobile communication [GSM] based technology to measure overvoltage, load current, and winding temperature. By measuring the condition of Transformer will help us to point out an any abnormalities before any serious damage that in turn leads to a greater credibility and significant cost savings

Vehicle Theft Detection and Locking System using GSM and GPS

A vehicle tracking system is very useful for tracking the movement of a vehicle from any location at any time. An efficient vehicle tracking system is designed and implemented for tracking the movement of any equipped vehicle from any location at any time. The proposed system made good use of popular technology that combines a smartphone with an Arduino UNO. This easy to make and inexpensive compared to others. The designed in vehicle device works using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communication(GSM) technology that is one of the most common ways for vehicle tracking. The device is embedded inside a vehicle those positions is to be determined and tracked in real time. A vehicle tracking system is an electronic device installed in a vehicle to enable the owner or a third party to track the vehicle's location. This paper proposed to design a vehicle tracking system that works using GPS and GSM technology, which would be the cheapest source of vehicle tracking and it would work as anti-theft system. It is an embedded system which is used for tracking and positioning of any vehicle by using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global system for mobile communication (GSM). An Arduino UNO is used to control the GPS receiver and GSM module. The vehicle tracking system uses the GPS module to get geographic coordinates at regular time interval. The GSM module is used to transmit andupdate the vehicle location to a database. This paper gives minute by minute update about vehicle location by sending SMS through GSM modem. This SMS contain latitude and longitude of the location of vehicle. Arduino UNO gets the coordinates from GPS modem and then it sends this information to user in text SMS. GSM modem is used to send this information via SMS sent to the owner of the vehicle. Location is displayed on LCD. And then Google map displays location and name of the place on cell phone. Thus, user able to continuously monitor a moving vehicle on demand using smartphone and determine the estimated distance and time for the vehicle to arrive at a given destination

Converging Towards Open Radio Access Networks – A Comprehensive Review

Radio Access Networks (RAN) have been an integral part of the cellular mobile communication systems since the deployment of Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) networks and later for the legacy Universal Mobile Telecommunication Systems (UMTS) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. However, due to increasing demands of the users, throughput, ultra-lower latency, virtualization of the network and to cater the seamless connectivity of millions of wireless devices with the cellular networks, the advent of RAN needs to be brought under consideration. In this paper the traditional RANs are discussed with the necessity for their transition into the Open RAN (ORAN), considering all its essential parameters. The constraints of the legacy RAN architectures are explored with an overview of the RAN intelligent controllers, ORAN and its types. This paper additionally examines the function of artificial intelligence in Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI), enhanched CPRI, and xApps in terms of use cases along with the challenges associated with their deployment. The paper also present challenges and future of ORAN.

Data Dissemination Among Vehicles To Aid In Rendering Quick Emergency Services

Abstract Road traffic in metropolitan cities is increasing at enormous rates resulting in congestion. Vehicles rendering emergency services like ambulances, fire engines, law enforcement vehicles, etc., act as lifelines and should be looked into with the highest priorities on the road. Such emergency vehicles (EmVs / EVs) are seen stuck many times in traffic, especially during peak hours of the day. The vehicles that block the EmVs on the road are unaware of the arrival of the same. Hence this work proposes a system that uses a central server that receives the location of the EmV and shares it with the civilian vehicles around. This is achieved through pinpointed accuracy systems like the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), Global Positioning System (GPS), and Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM), etc., The objective here is to help the EmVs reach their target location earlier thus saving lives.

Remote Theft Alert With Car Engine Shutdown

The Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) and the Global Positioning System (GPS) are two innovative approaches to vehicle intrusion and theft control system design and development that are presented in this article. One of the unique components of the suggested system is its use of GSM technology. The vehicle's position is tracked using a GPS module called the Holux GR89, and analogue data is continually collected using Mercury switches. If there is an incursion, changes in the sensor readings will be noticed. The microcontroller continuously gathers sensor readings, and based on those readings, a decision is made regarding whether or not an intrusion has occurred. If an intrusion occurs, a message from a predefined set of messages is generated to the vehicle's owner, who then has the option to respond via SMS to lock the vehicle's gears or seize the engine from a distance. The vehicle's engine and gearbox are managed by a relay that interfaces with the microprocessor. A system prototype was constructed and evaluated. The outcomes were really promising and favourable.

EFFECT OF THICK VEGETATION COVER, BUILDING OBSTRUCTIONS, AND EARTH TERRAIN ON THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE GSM SIGNAL AT THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ADO-EKITI

Wireless communication system performance is fundamentally constrained by the mobile radio channels such as the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM). The transmission path between the base transceiver station and the mobile station can range from line-of-sight to substantially obstructed environmental situations such as buildings, earth undulation valleys, and thick vegetation being the primary cause of poor network performance in and around the school perimeter. Mobile radio channels are incredibly unpredictable and do not provide simple analysis, in contrast to stationary and reliable wired channels. This research work, therefore, investigates the effect of thick vegetation cover, building obstructions, and earth terrain on the quality and performance of the GSM signal at the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti environs. A model for path loss (attenuation) is developed according to the Longley-Rice propagation model that forecasts the long-term median transmission loss over uneven terrain in comparison to the free-space transmission loss. The model was created for frequencies in the 20 MHz to 40 GHz range and path lengths in the 1 to 2,000 km range. The analysis of the results obtained shows that the path loss (attenuation) produced due to the effect of vegetation, building obstructions, and the earth undulation structures are quite significant. The solution of cell creation as a primary way of improving the quality of the GSM signal reception in the school perimeter without necessarily destroying the natural environment or demolishing any existing building is proposed.

Microstrip Patch Antenna Design at 10 GHz for X Band Applications

Microstrip patch antennas are used in satellite imaging systems, wireless communication equipment, military radios, GPS (Global Positioning System) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) applications. Its advantages are its small size and light weight, thin structure, low power consumption, use in dual frequency applications, and patching in various geometric shapes. Developing technology has facilitated and accelerated the production of microstrip antennas. In this study, microstrip antenna design operating at 10 GHz frequency for X band applications has been made. X band is used for air traffic control, weather traffic control, vessel traffic control, defense tracking and vehicle speed detection, terrestrial communications and networking, space communications and amateur radio. HFSS program was used in antenna design. AWR program was used to find transmission line parameters. In addition, MATLAB program was used to calculate some parameters. First of all, information is given about the working principle of the antenna, the selected dielectric layer and the working frequency. Schematic drawings of the designed antenna were made from above and from the side. S11 reflection coefficient magnitude graphs are drawn below and above the operating frequency. The radiation pattern is drawn for the E-plane and H-plane at the operating frequency. 3-D (dimensional) plot of antenna gain at operating frequency is drawn. The simulations performed have shown that the designed antenna works successfully.

In addition to being widely employed in industry, it is also used in several electronics projects undertaken by engineering students. It is possible to operate equipment from afar using WIFI-based projects. For instance, what if you wanted to be able to operate any equipment from afar using only your cell phone? Would it be possible? Sure, I can help you with that. Wi-Fi modules and cell phones make it easy to power on and off various gadgets. The home devices control system was developed to enable the control of home equipment from a mobile phone by using the aforementioned ideas. This document makes use of a regulated 5V, 1A power source. When controlling voltage, a 7805 three-terminal regulator is ideal. When a 230/12V step-down transformer’s secondary AC output needs rectifying, a bridge-type full wave rectifier is the way to go.

A Fingerprint based Students attendance System with SMS alert to Parents

Technological developments in the domains of electronics and telecommunication have led to an expanding variety of arrangements in the home and office. This project presents the design methodology for a mobile fingerprint-based student attendance system that utilizes a global system for mobile communication (GSM) technology. This course of study mostly entails matching fingerprints based on the number of minute pairings between two fingerprints and extracting minutiae points from model fingerprint pictures. The system has an attendance module and a terminal for collecting fingerprints. It is capable of autonomously carrying out tasks like fingerprint data collection and processing as well as wireless communication, creating an attendance record, and matching fingerprints. Following the attendance check, Through GSM, this technology transmits each student’s attendance to their parent’s mobile device. An attendance system makes it easier to obtain a specific student’s attendance for a given class. This effort heralds a new era for parent alerts and student security.  

Advancement of microcontroller-based fire suppression system for enhanced safety in sugar cane plantations

The occurrence of accidental fires in sugarcane plantations is a significant cause of pre-harvest loss in the sugar industry, particularly during arid seasons. This paper introduces the conceptualization and implementation of a microcontroller-based prototype system for mitigating accidental fires in sugar cane plantations. The proposed system encompasses two distinct subsystems: the field monitoring and the fire control unit. The Field monitoring system, deployed within the sugarcane field, assumes responsibility for fire detection via smoke detectors, infrared detectors, as well as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide detectors, which are accompanied by a fire extinguishing mechanism. Conversely, the fire control unit, installed at the fire brigade office, establishes wireless communication with the field monitoring system through the global system for mobile communication (GSM) network. Upon detecting a fire, the microcontroller promptly dispatches a fire alert to the fire brigade while simultaneously activating water pumps to suppress the fire until the brigade arrives to fully extinguish it. Furthermore, the fire control unit triggers the fire alarm and exhibits the global positioning system (GPS) coordinates of the burning field to facilitate precise localization. The proposed system uses the Arduino-Mega and Arduino- Leonardo microcontroller platforms and is programmed using the C++ programming language in Visual-Studio-Code software and the Arduino integrated development environment. Designed prototype can detect fires and alert the fire brigade in less than twenty seconds and activate water pumps in less than one second after fire detection.

Comparative Analysis for Radio Channel Propagation Models in the City of Tripoli/ Libya for 4G/LTE Networks

The accurate prediction of radio channel propagation is one of the most important factors for the design and optimization of wireless communication systems. Path loss is the key element to design appropriate propagation model. There are different propagation  models used to predict path loss, however, inaccurate propagation model may result in unsatisfactory services for the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) network. These include low data rates, high co-channel interference, and wasted received power.This paper presents a comparative analysis of radio channel propagation models specifically for urban environment. The aim is to evaluate and compare the performance of various models and accurately predict path loss and signal behavior in urban settings. The research focuses on adapting the Okumura-Hata model which is used by the Libya Telecom and Technology Company (LTT) for Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in the GSM Band. This study is based on real time measurements collected in downtown Tripoli in Libya. It suggests considering other models, such as Standard Propagation Model (SPM), Cost-231, and Ericsson. Using MATLAB for simulation, the findings indicate that SPM model is the best fit especially when distance is over ~22 Km.
